Job description

About the business

Cruise Sydney provides a luxuriously unique way for guests to experience the beautiful Sydney Harbour. Our exclusive 78ft luxury cruiser ‘The Spirit of Migloo’ boasts uninterrupted 360-degree views while guests enjoying an amazing culinary experience including regionally sourced food and prestigious wines. Departing from Darling Harbour, Cruise Sydney provides lunch and dinner cruises as well as private charter events.

Cruise Sydney is part of Journey Beyond, a national tourism business focused on bringing Australia’s unique and iconic experiences to life.

About the role

Our Cruise Attendants / Waiters deliver exceptional customer service to our guests to ensure an unparalleled, memorable experience. Working in a team environment with a focus on food & beverage service and vessel presentation, responsibilities include:

  • Greeting guests when they commence boarding and professional ticket handling
  • Interacting with guests during the voyage to ensure their comfort, welfare and safety at all times
  • Delivering an exceptional guest experience by anticipating and exceeding customer expectations
  • Delivering prompt food and bar service to guests throughout the journey, ensuring safe food practices are followed
  • Cleaning up of food service & dining areas during and after any service
  • Processing payments and purchases onboard using the till and cashing up at end of the day
  • Ensuring the vessel is always in a clean and presentable state, including stocking and rotating the fridges to ensure correct stock levels and minimal wastage

Our lunch and dinner cruises operate during the week and on weekends, with casual staff working a mixture of day shifts (10:30am - 4:30pm), evening shifts (4:00pm - 10:30pm) and split shifts on rotating roster. Most of our cruises operate for dinner and on the weekends, therefore casual availability for 3-4 shifts across these times will be highly regarded.

About You

If you are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences, have team player mentality, and love to have fun along the way - we'd love to hear from you!

Although previous hospitality experience in a similar high-end environment is advantageous (e.g. hotels, cruises, business or first class airlines), this is not essential - as long as you can demonstrate exceptional professionalism, a vibrant personality, and polished physical presentation, we're happy to train you on the rest!

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 6 months food and beverage service experience, ideally in a restaurant environment
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) qualification
  • Availability to work approx. 15-20 hours a week on a rotating roster, with availability for Thursday/Friday evenings and weekend shifts being particularly advantageous
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer / POS systems skills and cash handling skills
  • A cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the needs of others.
