With offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Shanghai & Guangzhou, Summit’s global presence has underpinned strong growth. We are currently seeking a committed and talented Customs Manager to join and lead a small brokerage team in our company.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the Customs Manager, your primary responsibilities will be -
- Managing the Customs Team and championing the department by example;
- Assisting with compliance such as Customs Bond Store, Agriculture Depot and others that we are a part of and may be a part of in the future;
- Overseeing Customs Department’s performance KPIs and assisting in developing and implementing best and most efficient working practices inside the department, such as Workflows and a paperless environment;
- Consulting with clients and understanding their businesses to assist in smoother clearance and duty minimization;
- Tariff consultancy, finding legally sound and optimal duty outlay for clients and agents;
Qualifications required
- Minimum 5-year experience in Australia in a customs brokerage role;
- Experience in using EDI CargoWise preferred.
- Sound working knowledge of Australian Customs Law and procedures including classification, valuation, origin and preference and Free Trade Agreements.
- Sound working knowledge of Department of Agriculture (Quarantine) Regulations and procedures.
