About the Department
An agency charged with the responsibility for protecting Australia's natural resources and to develop and implement policies and programs that ensure Australia's agricultural, fisheries, food and forestry industries remained competitive, profitable and sustainable.
The role will require:
- Developing a good understanding of relevant agricultural policies and programs.
- Managing several datasets for the Branch/Division including the creation/refinement of the data management strategy for each.
- Undertaking high-quality data analyses using tools i.e. SAS, Power BI, Microsoft Excel.
- Presenting analysis in formats suitable for a range of audiences.
- Contributing to the preparation of policy costings.
- Independent technical exploration.
- Building productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in data management.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis using analytical tools, including querying diverse data sources, and preparing data for analysis.
- Experience in supervising staff.
- An understanding of farm and drought resilience is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively to respond to changing demands.
- Highly developed IT skills including intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel skills.
