Data Engineer
- Grade 7/8, ongoing/permanent position
- Base salary starting at $101,947 base + 10.5% superannuation
About the Role
The role is primarily responsible for support and development of several applications in the BI Infrastructure landscape.
The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider, regulator and central agency of government. DCS is undertaking an ambitious digital transformation of government services, underpinned by its Digital Government Strategy.
Government Technology Platforms (GTP) provides cross sector leadership and delivery of ICT infrastructure and digital service delivery reforms aligned to the NSW Government ICT Strategy.
Key accountabilities will include:
Perform all the activities involved in the support and development of BI applications.- Please see below section for the required skills.
- Provide excellent customer service by resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders, recommending and implementing ways to improve data efficiency and reliability, ensuring associated risks with deployment are documented and understood.
- Uses agreed standards and tools to design, develop, test, correct and document moderate to complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations to meet service delivery outcomes
- Make complex and technical information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences, facilitating difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders and assisting with the management of collaborative processes across the organisation to support the delivery of services to stakeholders and clients
About you
To be successful in this role you will have experience in a similar role working in a large and complex commercial environment, along with the following skills:
Mandatory Skills:
Development experience in OBIEE/Oracle Analytics Cloud.- ETL Development experience in any of the mainstream ETL/ELT applications such as
- Talend or Informatica.
- Experience or very good understanding of Data Modelling/System Design of enterprise
- Data Warehouse, specifically cloud based DWs such as Amazon RedShift or Snowflake.
- Experience in SQL.
Desired Skills:
Experience or working knowledge in various AWS Cloud Infrastructure components such as RDS, S3, Lambda, Glacier, Cloudwatch.- Power BI/Tableau/DOMO or any other mainstream reporting application development experience.
Non-Technical Skills:
Excellent attitude and disposition towards Customer Service.- Willingness to go the extra mile to achieve customer delight.
- Organised and Quick learner.
- Ability to document processes and procedures with close attention to detail.
- Ability to collaboratively work within the team, department and organisation.
- Always looking for ways to improve processes.
