Data Practitioner Lead - 18 Month Contract + Extensions

One of Queensland's largest employers is embarking on a large scale data transformation project, that will help to shape the future of how data is presented and used within the organisation.

Job Description

Working collaboratively with 12 teams of data practitioners across the organisation, the Data Practitioner Lead will share expertise about the newly deployed Information Insights Platform, as well as design & development methodology and data & analytics best practices. This will including internal communications, the organisation of events, creation of training and communication material, newsletter preparation and the design of collateral.

The position supports the successful delivery of reports, data and business intelligence content to users, and is critical to the business unit's key deliverable, which is to provide a data and analytics service for the organisation. You will be supported by the Insights Data Engineering, Data Science, and Production Support teams.

While there are no ongoing direct reports to this position, during times where significant training programs need to be rolled out, trainers will be engaged for delivery and they will report into this position.

The Successful Applicant

This role would best suit a technology (data) evangelist, with experience in creating a distributed community of data professionals, and drive them towards a common goal.

Key skills and experience required include:

• Experience delivering Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Solutions at scale in a large enterprise environment.
• Experience working in change management, communications, and/or training capacities.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.
• Experience in working with large, complex Data Warehouses and Dimensional Modelling

While a data engineering background would be beneficial, please note this role would NOT suit a pure Data Engineer who does not have the necessary leadership, engagement, and change management experience.

• Hybrid work model - typically the teams work 2-3 days per week in the office, with the rest of the week working from home. Start and finish times in the day are also fully flexible to support any requirements you may have.
• Competitive hourly rate - negotiable with experience, this is a 36.25 hour week, and this is a well funded project with a track record of offering excellent rates in line with the Australian market.
