Database Officer - The Kirby Institute

  • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hour week)
  • Duration: 12 month fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: $91k - $97k + 17% Super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)

Why Your Role Matters:

As the Database Officer, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of electronic databases to facilitate the conduct of research studies as part of the . You will work predominantly with REDCap to provide database solutions for clinical data collection and study management.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Liaise with the study team and clinical sites regarding data cleaning and resolution of queries,
  • Design and build study management electronic study management tools to assist the clinical project coordinators to efficiently manage the projects.
  • Develop and update procedures, tools and resources which complement the procedures to govern database design, building, testing and maintenance of clinical study databases and ensure appropriate processes are in place for the collaboration of laboratory and other data generated by third party providers.
  • Advise on and specify clinical database requirements for new study protocols in collaboration with the Clinical Project Coordinators.
  • Build clinical study databases for the collection and analysis of clinical study data, including laboratory and questionnaire data, incorporating data validation rules to ensure consistency of data entry.
Who You Are:
  • Graduate biomedical science qualifications, computer or other medical qualifications including Nursing with relevant experience in the conduct of clinical research.
  • Demonstrated experience in REDCap data management, database design andbuild, .
  • Proven knowledge of International Council for Harmonisation Good Clinical Research Practice Guidelines (ICH GCP) as governed by the International Council for Harmonisation.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload and work independently as well as an effective member of a team.
  • Proven initiative, analytical and problem-solving skills, capacity to meet deadlines and ability to pay close attention to detail.
