What you’ll do

Provide evidence based clinical care to patients, within your scope of practice, resulting in the best quality care that public dentistry can achieve. The position is based at Broken Hill Hospital and outreach clinics will be based on clinical demand. Provide care for our communities. Be involved in student placements.

The Far West Local Health District makes up the western-most District in NSW, sharing its borders with South Australia, Queensland and Victoria. Far West LHD provides primary care to an estimated resident population of 30,000, employing over 800 staff across 9 facilities in Broken Hill, Balranald, Dareton, Ivanhoe, Menindee, Tibooburra, Wentworth, White Cliffs and Wilcannia.

Your Remuneration

In addition to a base salary of $155,196 per annum, 10% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading are paid on your 5 weeks of annual leave.

In addition, you will receive:

  • The Dental Officer Rural Incentive Scheme of $10,000 per annum
  • A Representative Public Dentist allowance of 20% of your annual base salary

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.
  • Unrestricted registration as a Dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the delivery of high quality dental services within the scope of general dental practice
  • Proficiency in minor oral surgery, denture prosthetics, endodontics, children's dentistry and management of medically compromised patients
  • Commitment to the principles of public sector dentistry and sound evidence-based dental practice
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work as a contributing member of a clinical team. Ability to work as a solo practitioner or as part of a team.
  • An understanding of current concepts in clinical practice and demonstrated understanding of infection control principles
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 licence acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment. Ability and willingness to provide services across Far West Local Health District Community Oral Health Clinics as required
To be eligible for employment in this role you must be: an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or a citizen of another country with an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia.
If you currently hold a temporary visa that allows you to live and work in Australia, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
