Deputy Chief Information Officer

The role of Deputy Chief Information Officer ensures that the organisation continues to have the most effective technology and ICT services in order to deliver its vision of safe and clean seas, and saving lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Deputy Chief Information Officer (Deputy CIO) will provide leadership to AMSA’s technology, digital and ICT functions in line with our operational and strategic objectives. The Deputy CIO will need to have the capacity to work with both a strategic and operational focus, contributing to the strategic purpose and plans of AMSA, but also bringing careful attention to the detail of effective and service focused operational implementation.

You will be an effective and influential leader, responsible for:

Managing and motivating your team, with a focus on developing and coaching team members and managing the resourcing of the branch to meet AMSA business requirements.
Managing current technology and ICT services, while supporting any future technology uplift within AMSA.
Supporting the CIO and creating efficiencies in technology based service delivery and operations.
Managing strategic and operational priorities in support of business requirements.
Providing high level management of contract vendor solutions to meet operational requirements including managing all stages of the procurement process to ensure value for money.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders (internal, external and the Board) to understand, and advise on, current and future technology business requirements.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You will have:
Relevant qualifications and substantial experience in managing technology in one or more of the following areas: infrastructure / network / architecture / application development and support.
Significant demonstrated experience providing leadership at a senior level in a dynamic environment and managing and motivating diverse teams of technical professionals.
A proven track record of initiating and leading major projects and delivering effective outcomes.
Substantial experience in successfully managing an organisation’s information technology environment including major supplier contracts.

AMSA does not engage staff under the APS Act. AMSA engages employees under the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990 and our remuneration arrangements are specific to AMSA. The salary range for this role equates to SES Band 1 in the APS.
