The role of the Desktop Support Technician is to provide technical support for the IT Desktop fleet and associated applications in one of the top global insurance companies. The provision of support with an outstanding customer centric approach is critical to ensure that the service and the company’s staff and customers exceeds expectations. The Desktop Support Technician will serve as the escalation point for hardware and software issues that are escalated via the internal IT Service Desk, and the company’s staff. The Desktop Support Technician Provides technical expertise to employees in how to best use their desktop PC equipment, remote access options and use of software applications. Further, the Desktop Support Technician is to provide on-site support to other IT teams within the company to assist in comms room management, network patching, VOIP telephony, printers and axillary IT equipment and to provide support to the company staff at alternative office and home based locations.
Future challenges
After hours and weekend work is required to allow for equipment relocations, testing and providing support to other IT teams. On-Call support is required on a rostered basis, and some interstate travel may be required to assist IT Staff in other offices for leave relief and or project work.
What you'll need to succeed
You are a self-driven dynamic person who has sound technical background. You have experience as an IT Level 1/2 support providing remote and face to face troubleshooting to users.
- Provide technical Support and fault resolution for range of IT services
- Respond to assigned calls in a timely manner to ensure service levels are met
- Participate in the detailed analysis of issues
- Resolve & close assigned issues in a timely manner
- Provide assistance to the staff in their operation of the Desktop environment

Role location: Sydney CBD - Wynyard (everyday onsite) Contract length: 12 months (highly likely to extend) FTC Salary: $80 to $90k including super per annuum
