About the role
The Director, Finance, Shared Services is a key leadership role that drives the strategic direction of financial shared services in line with Education reforms, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, quality, cost benefits and competitive advantage.
The Director will oversee the development of tactical plans and initiatives as well as providing strategic and operational advice for the effective delivery of all finance services, service issues and strategies to schools and corporate areas across the Department.
Stakeholder engagement and strong working relationships are critical in this role, where you will be regularly providing expert advice and strategies to Executives, collaborating with key stakeholders within the Department and cross-sector as well as fostering a culture within your unit that drives and encourages high performance and professional development.
You will join a very fast paced working environment with a unit of over 170 employees where you will be required to embody critical thinking, lead and support the strategic operation of all financial services and drive ongoing, continuous improvement for our customers and stakeholders.
About you
As a leader you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact. You will be collaborative, courageous, agile, and disciplined about delivering outcomes for the students of NSW.
You are a seasoned leader with previous experience working in large and complex organisations, driving strategic initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and better ways of working. You have a natural ability to build and maintain strong relationships with your stakeholders and lead your teams through significant change and transformation.
The Department encourages flexible working and remote working arrangements however, there is an expectation that as the Director you will frequent both the Parramatta and Bathurst office as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Proven successful experience in the management of organisational, technological and cultural change
- Demonstrated experience in operating in a highly regulated and scrutinised area that has significant impact on an organisation’s reputation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
