The Director Infrastructure Services drives the strategic planning and operational outcomes for Balonne Shire Council’s civil infrastructure, roads, water and sewerage, recreation areas and buildings. The Director leads a team of approximately 60 operational staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership for the Infrastructure Services team in the planning and technical delivery of its operations.
• Creating compelling cases for change, actively promote business improvement, lead change initiatives and change processes.
• Oversee the management of a broad range of projects ensuring financial and deliverable outcomes are within scope and planned timeframes.
• Proactively manage performance trends, focusing on risk, safety, quality and compliance.
• Stakeholder engagement, building strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, elected members, the community and industry bodies.
• Provide expertise and strategic input to a collaborate executive leadership team.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Organisational leadership and people management skills, cultural awareness and the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver key objectives effectively.
• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, RPEQ highly regarded or can gain in a short time frame.
• Substantial experience managing an infrastructure operational team within Local Government or similar entity.
• Structured, responsible, accountable and has a strong customer focus (Internal and external).
• Strategic Manager who will initiate, develop, implement and continually improve sound business practices.
• Politically astute with the ability to listen and provide solutions.

Located just five hours’ drive west of Brisbane on the QLD-NSW border, Balonne Shire Council has a dedicated team of 110+ staff and population of 4,500 people who live in the surrounding towns of St George, Thallon, Dirranbandi, Bollon, Nindigully, Mungindi and Hebel.
