About the Team

The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion dollar program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Director Project Performance (Development), The Director Project Controls will lead the Project Performance teams within a project office or hub. The role will drive the outcomes and performance of projects and programs of projects through aligned business processes and strategic partnerships. The role provides guidance and project leadership in the full spectrum of project performance.

This opportunity is initially for a fixed term contract of 12 months.

Key accountabilities include (but not limited to):
  • Provide guidance and strategic support to project leadership with respect to all Project Performance parameters, including, but not limited to cost control, risk management, project planning, change control, performance reporting and monitoring of other performance metrics, governance and assurance.
  • Lead the Project Performance community within a project office or program of projects to ensure integration whilst embedding and promoting a performance-driven culture.
  • Work across multiple stakeholder groups to ensure consistent project control processes and practices are adhered to for all projects and more broadly in the branch.
  • Perform and support project and program reviews and deep dives to facilitate the identification, early intervention, risk mitigation and appropriate escalation of performance issues.
  • Effectively build collaborative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders whilst managing conflicting expectations and timelines within large scale and complex projects and programs.
  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop teams to achieve their optimal performance in a change environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

About you

You are a commercially astute, strategic and collaborative leader, who is highly skilled at engaging and influencing multiple stakeholder groups.

Technically proficient in the Project Controls environment, you will have extensive demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of a portfolio of programs and projects for large, complex organisations.

Your leadership, development, implementation and management skills should be self-evident in the evaluation, integration and reporting of complex infrastructure projects.

As a strong engaging people leader you will have the natural ability to motivate, develop and lead teams. Creating a shared purpose of achieving high quality project outcomes whilst operating in a change environment.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and experience will be expected in order to provide technical solutions. Project Controls experience from relevant consulting firms will also be considered.

The Director, Project Controls provides a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in contributing to the creation of an ever-lasting legacy for our state.
