- Opportunity to join Westpac Institutional Bank's (WIB) Natural Resources Relationship Management Team
Reporting to the Executive Director, Natural Resources, as a Natural Resources Relationship Manager you will be responsible for high quality origination and delivery of best-in-class customer sales propositions for our client base. As a Relationship Manager you will be responsible for developing a cross-business culture of achievement and best practice, to optimise sales and client relationships by providing corporate, institutional, and transactional banking solutions for clients.
The mining sector is an exciting sector and Perth is one of the best places globally to undertake such a role. Outside of core established commodities (iron ore, gold, aluminium, base metals), the industry is an important enabler of the energy transition via the delivery of critical minerals (lithium, nickel, cobalt, rare earths).
You will also:
- Develop and strengthen existing customer relationships to foster customer confidence and optimise value
- Manage the credit risk/quality of the portfolio in line with strategic priorities
- Work with Credit Partners and Product Partners to support the approval and execution of transactions that deliver sustainable returns
- Be highly responsive and innovative to client needs and proactively driving new opportunities

What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will have proven skills and experience demonstrating capability to manage a portfolio of Natural Resources customers with a diverse range of needs. You will be known for your strong communication, networking, and relationship development skills. You will have knowledge of and experience in the broader Resources sector and of wholesale banking products, and be able to identify suitable applications for these products.
Some further advantageous skills are:
- Proven ability to understand Resources markets and risks across a broad client base
- Exposure to origination and execution of project financing for mining projects
- Proven experience across credit & operational risk management, loan markets execution, portfolio management and compliance
- In-depth current product knowledge and insights into industry trends
- Degree qualified in a technical (geology, mining engineering) and/or analytical focused field such as finance, business, or accounting
