Are you passionate about helping others and want to make a difference in people's lives? Then come join the team at genU! We are looking for a Disability Support Practitioner to assist our participants to achieve their goals and personal growth!

As a Disability Support Practitioner, you will ensure our participants are supported according to their Support Plan & Strategy. You will have the flexibility to work autonomously as well as part of a team to support & empower our participants. You will also be proactive in promoting community inclusion and actively follow up on community-based opportunities tailored to participant interests, abilities & strengths.

You will assist participants to undertake a range of daily activities including personal and self-care. You will also aide our participants to communicate more effectively, enabling an active and independent involvement in daily living!

This is a casual position based in North-East Melbourne, VIC.

About You!

Our ideal Disability Support Practitioner will:

  • Have significant experience providing positive support to people who have behaviours of concern
  • Have practical experience and ability to provide personal care
  • Have experience assisting participants to access community-based programs/activities
  • Have experience working with people who have limited verbal, expressive language or use alternative augmentative communication (AAC) devices/resources
  • Have experience working with people who have autism
  • Be willing to transport participants in own private car
  • Be able to work individually and in a team environment
  • Have a strong problem-solving ability
  • Proactively contribute towards positive outcomes and workplace culture
You will need:
  • Certificate IV in Community Services (Disability) or equivalent
  • First Aid Level II
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • All applicants will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and meet the requirements of the genU COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccinations during the recruitment process.
