Casual Disability Support Worker
Breaking Barriers Disability Services Pty Ltd is an NDIS Registered Provider based on the Central Coast servicing all areas from Sydney through to Newcastle. We pride ourselves on providing person centered supports to our Participants through Community Access, In Home Supports, Social Supports, Coordination of Supports, SIL and Community Nursing.
Our Programs are tailored to provide people living with disabilities and their families, services to help them live safely and comfortably at home while actively enjoying their local Community.
Our organisation is expanding and we are seeking to employ motivated Disability Support Workers to provide care and support to our NDIS participants with their everyday living in residential, vocational or other environments, as per their NDIS Plans.
Essential Criteria: -
1. Minimum Certificate III qualification and/or relevant industry experience in Disability or Aged Care or a willingness to complete this within the first 2 years of your employment with BBDS;
2. Current NDIS Workers Screening Check;
3. Working with Children Check for Paid Employment;
4. First Aid Certificate;
5. Unrestricted NSW Drivers License;
6. NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate;
7. Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings including but not limited to-a person’s home or place of residence, other services, community groups and different community settings;
8. A commitment to the values of dignity, respect, inclusion, empowerment, confidentiality, and strength-based practice;
9. A positive and professional attitude about personal care work;
10. Commitment to adhere to guidelines around privacy and confidentiality and all other BBDS policies and procedures;
11. Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and using initiative within parameters of Breaking Barriers policy and procedures;
12. Established conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
13. Evidence of COVID-19 Triple Vaccination (or be willing to obtain)
Desirable Criteria: -
1. Demonstrated ability to establish a professional working relationship with participants that is supportive, encouraging and in line with their individual personal plan.
2. Demonstrated skills supporting and caring for participants with a complex support need e.g., challenging behaviours, complex medical supports.
3. Knowledge and ability to apply the principles and guidelines of the Disability Services Act (2006).
4. Possess well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, problem-solving, and the ability to communicate effectively as a member of a team which may consist of other Disability Support Workers and their Coordinator, families, clients)
5. General awareness of health and safety issues and demonstrated ability to perform all physical requirements of the position.
