Disability Support Worker (Casual) - Female

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hopesway is looking for a support worker for a mature-age female client with an ABI. The client requires a second support worker for assistance with personal care (including manual handling duties) in the mornings. The shifts are Monday and Wednesday: 7.30am - 9.30 am and Tuesday: 8am - 10am.

The Disability Support Worker is responsible for implementing training and support services aimed at maximizing the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability, community inclusion, independence, decision making and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.

REPORT TO: Disability Service Manager

LOCATION: Albury NSW.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing care and support to clients in line with their personalized care plans, including:

• Personal tasks
• Domestic assistance
• Community access
• Social support
• Transport
• Meal preparation
• Group participation
• Life skills development

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of Cert III in Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, Disability Worker or similar
• Current WWCC, Blue/Yellow Card, Police Check and First Aid/CPR
• Driver’s License
• Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
• Smart phone

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 6 months relevant experience
• Experience in supporting people with disability
• Experience in manual handling
• Demonstrated continuing professional development
• Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles

SKILLS:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build rapport and trust with clients
• Strong time management and ability to prioritize
• Be culturally sensitive
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs and other computer systems for record keeping
• Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships

Job Type: Casual

Salary: $28.00 – $38.00 per hour
