Join our Group home in Watsonia, walking distance to the local cafes and IGA. Assistance and support are required for meal planning and preparation, domestic chores and community access. It is a mix of males and females, ambulant and non-ambulant. They require full support in most areas of their lives including toileting and showering. The house is purpose built with ceiling hoists in 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The residents enjoy listening to music, puzzle work and love chatting amongst themselves and with staff. Our house is looking for dedicated, ambitious professionals dedicated to supporting the most challenging of behaviours and medical needs.
A person who is familiar with Autism and working with people who have dysphagia/swallowing difficulties. Manual handling experience would be great too.
Some residents have mild Behaviours of concern, so someone who is familiar with Behaviour management & strategies would be a great fit.
This is not required but would be a bonus if they knew basic Auslan. One of the people living here is hearing impaired.

Roster Hours:
Fortnight 1: 36:00 hours
Fortnight 2: 44:30 hours
The shifts are a combination of morning & afternoon shifts.

Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the day-to-day running of the house
Develop planned activities in line with policies and guidelines
Liaise with family members, medical services, departmental services, and external services to help meet client needs
Administer medication treatments and therapies according to prescribed protocols or otherwise, seek appropriate medical assistance
Implement development programs and identify and support learning opportunities
Qualifications & Experience:
Certificate 4 in Disability
A current First Aid Certificate
A current unrestricted Driver Licence
A commitment to supporting and promoting the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disabilities
The ability to develop a positive relationship with service users and to support their Individual Personal Plan
Ability to apply behaviour management strategies in a complex and challenging environment
Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is essential
Demonstrated compliance with NDIS requirements for Disability Support Workers
