THE ROLE

This role will pro-actively assist in the management and, where possible, early resolution of disputes, ensuring positive outcomes are maximised.
This will be a full time, permanent position based in the Melbourne CBD office, with some flexibility to work from home once training is complete.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend Conciliation conferences on behalf of EML and actively participate in conciliation conference to facilitate timely resolution of disputes
- Engage with employee/employer representative prior to and after conciliation conferences about the conference process and proposed dispute resolution outcomes.
- Engage with the Case Manager and employee/employer representative regarding the history and nature of the dispute(s) and potential resolution outcomes for dispute.
- Liaise with the Dispute Resolution Team Assistant to obtain relevant claim information, arrange independent medical examinations and to obtain worker medical records as required.
- Consult with the Legal Specialist regarding any action that might impact any statutory benefits litigation, pre-litigated common law damages processes or common law damages claims currently on foot.
- Extensive experience in workers compensation claims management, litigation processes or in alternative dispute resolution
- Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with various stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes
- Strong understanding of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (AC Act), Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act),associated Regulations and case law
- Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to adhere to the Ministerial Guidelines as to Authorised Agent, Self-Insurer, Employer and Workers' Assistant Conduct at Conciliation Conference
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
