Job description

HEQS is one of leading distributors in furniture and homewares, with a vision to make the world more beautiful, one room at a time. To realise our vision we need an experience Merchandise Planner join our energetic team.

Working closely with the Category, Buying and Operation teams, the Merchandise Planner role is to drive revenues and delivered margin by managing the financial, demand and supply plans within his/her area of responsibility. The Junior Merchandise Planner manages his/her category product forecast and manages stock level to maximise the business's profit. She/he supports the team in analysing and providing recommendations on products, pricing, merchandising promotions and supply.

What we're looking for

The main responsibilities of this role are:

Coordinating and managing the budget within the area of responsibility
Reviewing category sales to budget, maintaining top line level forecast and informing the team to risk or opportunities to budget
Coordinating and proposing the promotional plan at sku and category level with the Buyer and Category Manager of relevant category to ensure sales, margin and inventory targets are met
Managing the line level forecast within your area for all indent products and drop ship products when necessary
Ensuring that line level forecast is aligned with budget and the forecast accuracy % meets or exceeds targets set by the Planning Manager
Managing and regularly reviewing the forecasting calculation, parameters, and methodology to improve the forecast accuracy
Working with the operations team and suppliers to manage the replenishment within your OTB and ensure the best stock availability is kept at all time
Providing forecasts to factories, local partners and the rest of the business to ensure stock, capacity and raw materials are available to meet projected demand as well as logistics and financial requirements
Analysing and recommending the optimum supply chain that can drive revenues, improve the customer experience, and maximise profits
Supporting the management of all markdowns within budgeted margin to ensure the right level of inventory is held in each category at all time and manage the exit of old and exit lines out of the business
Providing data, insights and recommendations on product, promotion and supplier performances
Facilitating range reviews and develop assortment and buy plans with the Category Manager and Buyer
Following product and market trends, competitors, suppliers and macro-economics to provide recommendations to the team and optimise the demand and merchandise plans
Preparing weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting
Developing new reporting tools and suggesting innovative approaches wherever possible
Providing support and recommendations to drive sales, reduce costs and improve the customer experience
Supporting data integrity maintenance, participate in cross-team projects, system and process improvements
What you already have

Previous merchandise or demand planner experience with at least 2 years in a fast-paced retail environment
Experience in forecasting and managing promotions, pricing and stock
A passion or past experience in furniture or homewares is preferable
Online experience is not necessary but preferable
An analytical mindset with strong financials and numerical skills and excellent attention to details
Strong Excel skills, SQL and database knowledge is a plus
Experience using a forecasting/planning system
High level of energy, the role requires good time management and multi-tasking
You are a team player with an ability to sustain strong relationships with all stakeholders within the business
Excellent communication skills at all levels of the business
You are results driven - you enjoy driving performance and putting the customer at the centre of every decision
Problem solving skills and high level of initiative is essential
The ability to communicate directly with factories, local partners and freight forwarders as required
