The Opportunity
Alstom has an exciting opportunity for an EHS & Rail Safety Advisor with a rail construction EHS delivery background to join our business in delivery of Alstom's scope on the Sydney Metro City and Southwest Project. The position is located in Milperra, NSW.
Key Responsibilities
Technical writing of procedures and forms to develop and maintain the EHS& Rail Safety management plans for the Project
Ensure that the Drug and Alcohol program, Fatigue Management program, is implemented and that effective record management supports these programs
Establish a comprehensive project safety governance process to undertake regular formal reviews of the EHS & Rail Safety Management Plans and KPIs
Proactively involved in deploying Safety programs in order to achieve objectives and drive continuous improvement across the function
Undertaking independent project systems audits, following up actions to closure and reporting on outcomes and knowledge management improvements
Keeping abreast and informing Project Senior Management of legislation changes or changes in requirements which effect the Project activities
Review and test the various emergency plans and delivery of Safety induction training
Prioritising accidents/incidents are first prevented, and if occurring writing thorough reports, recording the incident, ensuring this has been investigated and analysed
Ensure Safety audits and inspections are completed as per the relevant schedule
Ensure consultation & communication activities are being undertaken on the project through Health & Safety Representatives and OHS Committees
Preparation of EHS & Rail Safety monthly statistical reports and client reports
Implementation of Environment requirements, including compliance inspections, monitoring, reporting and recording
Conduct EHS Evaluations of subcontractors and monitor their safety performance

Key Requirements
Diploma in health and safety or equivalent
Rail, infrastructure or heavy industrial construction project experience in a similar role
Sound understanding and knowledge of local legal and regulatory health and safety requirements
Initiative, drive and resilience, with the ability to influence people at all levels within the operations
Strong knowledge of safe working systems, rules and procedures
