The Role
SRSPO's Project Management Unit (PMU) is responsible for delivering a significant program of capability acquisitions, including AIR7000 Phase 2 – P-8A Poseidon capability delivery project and common ADF Aeronautical Life Support Equipment upgrades / replacements, over the next 10 plus years. In the near future, this will grow to include the MQ-4C Triton capability upgrade program.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this position leads Engineering management activities for the AIR7000 Phase 2 Program. This role offers the unique opportunity to be a leader in a complex multi-billion dollar acquisition program with the P-8 Capability being acquired and upgraded under a Cooperative Program with the US Navy.
As a Project Engineering Manager for this major Acquisition program, you will be responsible for leading a team in systems engineering and acceptance activities. You will plan and manage critical and complex/very complex engineering deliverables to support requirements and acquisition phase milestones. This will require you to provide ongoing engineering governance and leadership to ensure that all aspects of the acquisition program adequately address regulatory, safety and aircraft integration requirements.
This role will require you to build and sustain effective relationships both internally and with external stakeholders, both in Australia and in the USA, contracted service providers and Defence industry.
About our Team
Surveillance and Response Systems Program Office (SRSPO) ensures the availability and performance of highly complex surveillance and response airborne and related systems for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) – including the P-8A Poseidon and the AP-3C (Electronic Warfare) aircraft systems. SRSPO also acquires and supports common Aeronautical Life Support Equipment (ALSE) used on all air vehicles operated by the RAAF, Navy and Army. In the near future we will also support the MQ-4C Triton, a new remotely piloted high altitude long endurance aircraft system.
