Job description

The Australian National Audit Office’s (ANAO’s) purpose is to support accountability and transparency in the Australian Government sector through independent reporting to the Parliament, and thereby contribute to improved public sector performance.

The Corporate Management Group (CMG) leads corporate strategy, operations and change to ensure the efficient operations of the ANAO. CMG leads and supports a culture of continuous improvement, with innovative approaches to business processes that are fit for purpose, create value, and improve productivity across the ANAO. CMG provides services in the following areas to enable the delivery of the ANAO’s purpose: human resource management, financial and business management, governance, communication, strategy, external relations, legal services and IT.

The opportunity

The Governance team is a small, friendly and supportive team in the Corporate Management Group. We are seeking applicants for an EL1 position in our team for a 12 -month non-ongoing period. As an EL1 Director of Governance you will report to the Senior Director, Governance.

Duties include:

·       Coordinating and supporting the governance of ANAO strategic committees including developing correspondence, papers, and reports;

·       Managing a variety of governance and reporting requirements;

·       Implementing ongoing improvements to ANAO’s governance frameworks consistent with policy and reform;

·       Working closely with Senior Executives from across the whole organization;

·       Supervising and coaching junior staff; and

·       Managing priorities and workloads across the team.

·       Excellent writing skills with a strong attention to detail;

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

·       Proven ability to manage complex and competing priorities;

·       Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision; and

·       Ability to contribute to innovation and business improvement strategies.

Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ANAO, applicants must be an Australian citizen.

Security Clearance – The Australian community requires the highest level of integrity from ANAO employees. The preferred applicant will be required to hold and maintain a security clearance at the level specified above.
