About the branch
Workforce Capability and Assurance provides a key enabling function, supporting the development of agency capability and providing the agency with the assurance that it continues to meet its legislative obligations. The branch is responsible for the delivery of all human resource and people strategies, as well as protecting the agency, its people and its capabilities through an integrated protective security and integrity function. Workforce Capability and Assurance supports employee wellbeing, as well as provides critical support to intelligence operations by oversighting the agency’s use of certain powers, ensuring legislative compliance and contributing to operational outcomes.
About the role
The role of the Senior Psychologist is to support the Director, Organisational Psychology to maintain a range of psychological services in support of the business and operational objectives of the ACIC. The Organisational Psychology team is a vibrant and energetic community of practice. The team is committed to providing highly professional and evidence based applied psychology services. The Psychologists are responsible for managing personnel security risks, reviewing the wellbeing of critical staff, managing vicarious trauma for staff who are exposed to explicit material and providing advice to business areas on the management of staff through recruitment and the promotion of resilience.
Our ideal candidate
- Demonstrates experience in conducting psychological assessments using case formulation methodology.
- Demonstrates training and experience in the clinical assessment of mental health issues
- Demonstrates ability to communicate psychological opinions and advice in support of organisational functions
- Demonstrates ability to manage competing priorities and fluctuating workloads.
- Uses well- developed collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to work well in teams
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Has strong ethical boundaries and well-developed problem-solving skills
- General registration as a psychologist (unconditional) with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
- Master degree or equivalent in Clinical, Forensic or Organisational Psychology.
- 5 years post registration experience.
- The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance for this role. All ACIC employees are required to hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, unless otherwise specified.
