ELECTORATE OFFICER C (Media & Communications)
Applications are invited for the full-time ongoing position of Media Adviser (EOC) to join the Office of Julie Collins MP. The position is based in Hobart, Tasmania but occasional intrastate travel may be necessary and travel allowances are payable in this respect.
The position would suit a highly motivated person with experience in journalism, or other communication roles.
Key duties of this role involve, but are not limited to:
- Development and implementation of the Member’s social media strategy
- Management of local electorate and Tasmania media issues for the Member - both reactive and proactive
- Development, advice and implementation of a local media and communications strategy for the Member
- Maintenance and content development for the Member’s website and social media
- Design and concept of advertising materials for the Member
- Development of materials to implement the media and communications strategy
- Liaison with state and federal colleagues in relation to the media and communications strategy
Previous experience working in parliamentary settings would be an advantage but is not essential.
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 with conditions outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23, which include:
- Commencing salary of $99,651, which includes $14,619 Electorate Staff Allowance as compensation for reasonable additional hours when required.
- Employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% superannuation is payable.
A probationary period of three months will apply and can be subjected to extension.
