About the Role

This position is for an Electrical Engineer with strong experience in project delivery, engineering studies and bulk material handling systems of large mining operations such as of Bauxite, Iron/ Copper ore, Coal etc or other heavy industry such as the oil and gas business.

The candidate shall be conversant with system design, equipment sizing and selection of High Voltage as well as Low Voltage equipment.

Some experience in instruction and control system design would be an advantage.

The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, demonstrated problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.

The successful applicant will:

  • apply their expertise to specialized endeavours in the engineering of bulk materials handling projects on a global basis, and will have technical responsibility for independently interpreting, identifying and defining problems.
  • conduct or lead special studies on latest technologies, methods, and materials.
  • carry out special or unique studies requiring unconventional or novel approaches or research techniques, using all available guides and precedents and expands and develops where these contain critical gaps.
  • serve as a consultant to projects providing advice on assignments having unique features.
  • assist and contribute to the preparation of and reviews discipline estimates, discipline work plans, budgets and schedules.
  • lead the formulation of engineering concepts during preliminary design phases and presents these to client.
  • provide technical guidance to other engineers, as required and assist in the development and coordination of training programs for Bechtel personnel.
  • maintain contacts with client representatives, suppliers, regulatory authorities, consultants and other Bechtel personnel as required to obtain and exchange information pertinent to assignments.
Additional Roles/Responsibilities
  • Executes production of deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering departmental procedures (EDP), codes and standards, Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to Project Manager/Project Engineer/EGS
  • Optimize System design to meet production targets such as maximum capacity, operating schedule, availability, and utilization with minimum energy
  • Guides a team of discipline engineers and designers to develop PFDs, Process schematics, Equipment layout & P&IDs, involve in equipment sizing calculations and preparation of bills of quantities.
  • Reviews and approve key engineering drawings, calculations, bid summaries and field change notices.
  • Guides and provide on-the job training for inter-disciplinary staff to design material handling system complying with applicable codes
  • Plans and execute design for modular construction with minimal hours
  • Integrates required safety, control, monitoring and help devices into the plant designs.
  • Establishes Performance Guarantee and testing criteria for components and systems
  • Leads safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/ SIL), as well as reviewing compliance with applicable safety and quality standards
  • Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
  • Implements / Capture Lesson Learnt. Active pursue of Value Engineering, design and cost optimization program
  • Interacts with Global office / Home office (abroad), execute work on workshare mode

About You

Qualifications:
  • A recognized degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board, to meet job requirements is essential. Higher qualifications in the same or related discipline would be highly regarded
Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, EPC modes of execution of mining projects.
  • Experience in startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities or process plants is desirable.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, calculations, applications, construction methods and materials.
  • Good working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards such as MSHA, OSHA, ISO, DIN etc
  • Has the capability to develop procedures and design criteria/guides and demonstrated knowledge of computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to perform calculations.
  • Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
