We currently have an opportunity for experienced Electrician’s to join our Maintenance team to support the day-to-day operations in a manner that focuses on safety, environment, quality, and continual improvement.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement to the way we operate. This will be on a roster 9, working a 9-day fortnight.

What you will bring
Are you a self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot and make decisions based on risk?
We are looking for Electricians to join our supportive team where you will get the opportunity to work on fixed plant maintenance aswell as exciting projects such as asset upgrades and major upgrades.
Reporting to the Service Maintenance Crew Leader, the Equipment Technician- Electrical will have:
A trade qualification – Queensland Electrical Trades Licence
Experience in a heavy industrial environment
Experience with PLC and control equipment
A demonstrated commitment to safety
Instrumentation experience is desirable
A commitment to continuous improvement by identifying process and cost saving initiatives
A willingness to learn and enthusiasm to develop new skills as required
Additional licenses such as Forklift, Working at Heights and Confined Space is highly regarded
Good computer skills including the use of SAP would be desirable.
High level of electrical diagnostic/trouble shooting skill
The successful applicant will require flexibility to do shift relief work on occasion.

Where you’ll be working
Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
