The Veterinary Referral Hospital has been providing veterinary referral and emergency services to the pets of Melbourne for over 25 years. As such, we take great pride in delivering the highest possible standards of veterinary medicine and customer service. Our hospital is a brand new purpose-built 24-hour ECC and referral facility. We have all the gadgets you need to ensure you can practice at your best and continue to learn new skills. Our case-load is incredibly varied and often challenging.
We have a friendly and supportive team of ECC vets consisting of 2 ECC specialists (DACVECC, FANZCVS), 2 ECC Registrars (residency trained veterinary associates), ANZCVS Membership veterinarians, experienced emergency veterinarians and recent graduates. Our ECC nurses are among the best in the industry; they are passionate, hardworking and dedicated to high levels of patient care. We offer a supportive environment with an emphasis on teamwork and life-long learning to deliver high standards of customer and patient care.
As a member of our team you will have access to our extensive internal reference material, an Animal Poisons Centre Membership and vetCT consulting membership available 24/7.
Job Description
ECC Unicorn
What is an ECC Unicorn? They are a rare, some even say mythical, soul who enjoys spending their weekends saving lives. They might do so for any number of reasons – they genuinely enjoy the work, it pays better, suits their non-work goals, helps juggle child rearing duties, etc. Any reason is ok with us.
We would love, and appreciate forever, a casual veterinarian willing to work on weekends. Any contribution would be helpful so that we can give our permanent full-time vets some extra weekend time off. You will be handsomely rewarded to reflect your social sacrifice.
So, whether you want to work one Sunday a month or every single Friday-Saturday-Sunday overnight, we would love to have a chat with you.
Qualifications
Our ideal new team member would:
Be available to work weekends and some public holidays
Extra points for being able to work weekend nights (but not essential)
Have 2 years or more experience working as an emergency veterinarian
MANZCVS (ECC) would be highly regarded

Be comfortable performing emergency surgery
