About the Team
The design engineering team are responsible for the development, design and testing of commercial and military vehicle components and systems. Based in our flagship office in Redbank, Ipswich.
About the Role
Engineering Draftspersons will develop 3D Harness routing, 3D Fixtures, engineering drawings and technical documentation for a range of large-scale military vehicle design projects, in accordance with company drafting specifications and standards.
As Engineering Draftspersons you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Create 3D models including complex harness routing and electrical fixtures/components
- Create technical drawings for sub-systems and assemblies using 3D digital models of mechanical designs and other data from engineers or senior drafters, in accordance with company drafting specifications and standards;
- Annotate and verify all numerical designations and specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using both CAD programs and manual calculations when necessary;
- Participate in review of mechanical/ instrument design and advise on technical drafting difficulties;
- Assign part numbers for drawings, BOMs and documents;
- Provide support for drawing information and requests;
- Acquire technical data via catalogues and vendors to create models and drawings;
- Maintain relationships of models and drawing files in an organized fashion, including drawing indexes & Technical Data Lists;
- Process Engineering Change Requests and redline corrections in a timely manner; and
- Create PDF files of released drawings, BOMs and documents for procurement packages and technical manuals.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Appropriate qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering drafting;
- Demonstrable experience as an engineering draftsperson;
- Strong 3D modelling skills with 3D CAD package, particularly routing;
- Understanding of physical characteristics of electrical connectors and components;
- Understanding of Fabrication and Welding;
- Understanding of relevant ISO and AS technical drawing standards;
- Knowledge of ISO, AS and Australian Defence standards (e.g. DEF(AUST)CMTD 5085C);
- Experience with Siemen's NX CAD and Teamcentre;
- Experience in design and development of military or automotive vehicles;
- Experience in delivering within organisational quality and compliance systems; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
