You will be part of the CIO - Technology team, which ensure that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customers and support our Group Strategy. We work hard to ensure that best practice, whether inside CommBank or outside in the broader technology ecosystem, is discovered, sheltered, nurtured, and spread to wherever else it can drive the most benefit for the Group and our customers.
As an Engineer Manager, you will be leading engineers that report to you, instilling a growth mindset and innovative ways of working. You'll also play an important role in steering the organisation by contributing to the strategy and determining which problems to invest in solving. You will bring a perfect blend of people management and technical knowledge to this team and will be responsible for shaping its evolution
We’re interested in hearing from people who:
Have a thorough understanding of the DevOps tooling available in the market, such as software or tooling for the CICD pipeline, source code control, and artefact management, attestation store, and public cloud (AWS and Azure) offerings
Facilitate proactive dialogue with senior management to ensure engineering quality goals are met factoring in quality, security, reliability and shipping goals
Have software development experience and a willingness to learn and jump into the deep end of technical problems
Contribute to CommBank’s Engineering Management Practice by coaching and mentoring engineers and raising the bar for the discipline across the organization
Promote open communication and builds meaningful relationships between individuals and teams in order to achieve great outcomes for our organisation, our customers and the community
Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice
Manage workforce planning and creates a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers’ voices are heard
Encourage risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams
Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
CI/CD: working knowledge of tools like TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, Ansible
Hosting Patterns like IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), CaaS (Container as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service)
Scripting Languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar is a plus.
Source Code and Artifact Management: GitHub, Jfrog Artifactory , X-Ray or other native cloud related tools
Cloud: Familiarity with Containerisation and public cloud engineering - AWS preferred
Quality Engineering Tooling: Selenium Grid, Blazemeter, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Testing Virtualization frameworks
Engineering Productivity Tools: JIRA and Confluence
System/Network Skills: Server administration, Infrastructure as Code, networking knowledge of concepts like proxies, firewalls, load balancers etc.
