Western Health is seeking motivated, engaging, and compassionate enrolled nurses to provide nursing care as part of the multidisciplinary custodial healthcare team at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), a women’s prison in Melbourne’s West. You will work alongside a team of registered nurses to provide patient treatment, management, assessment, ongoing reviews, emergency response and other primary health care services as needed.
There are permanent full time, part time and casual roles available. Please specify your preferred working arrangement in your application.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Essential
Be eligible for registration as an Enrolled Nurse in Australia and hold a current practicing certificate
Hold a Diploma in Nursing
Medication administration qualifications
Demonstrate organisational skills, particularly with respect to time management in the provision of care
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have highly developed interpersonal skills
Demonstrate an ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team
A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care
Excellent clinical skills
Desirable
Experience working in custodial health, women’s health, alcohol; and other drugs services, mental health or other relevant specialty
The service
On 1 July, 2023 the delivery of primary healthcare will transition from the current service provider to Western Health. The multidisciplinary team will provide holistic and interconnected service provision to patients at DPFC. Successful applicants will be on boarded during the transition period for orientation and training including additional training to support the delivery of culturally appropriate, trauma informed, gender affirming care for all patients including priority cohorts.
