As an Assurance Advisor/Specialist you will join a small team of professionals who are dedicated to ensuring that Suncorp is proactively complying with its pay and leave obligations, now and into the future.
This role will give you a unique insight into the systems and processes that support Suncorp's pay and leave compliance and will enable you to build your network for future career growth. You'll draw on your subject matter expertise to examine and validate the effectiveness of Suncorp's pay and leave control environment, in partnership with other teams, and be encouraged to challenge ideas and processes with empathy and simplify what and how you deliver. All with the aim of managing our regulatory and compliance obligations to build and protect Suncorp's reputation.

About the Role
Key work within our team includes:
  • Cyclical assurance activities: pro-active examination and validation of Suncorp's compliance with all pay and leave obligations arising under Suncorp Group Enterprise Agreement, the Fair Work Act and relevant State and Territory legislation. This includes reviewing existing systems and processes to identify areas of weaknesses and non-compliance, as well as ongoing opportunities for improvement.
  • Regulatory change monitoring: collaborate with the Employee Relations Principal on the implementation of regulatory changes that may impact existing controls for pay and leave obligations and / or require new controls.
  • Drive accountability frameworks for pay and leave obligations: clarify the split of accountabilities between the varying People, Culture & Advocacy teams, making it easier for everyone to work together to maintain compliance.
What you need to bring
  • Bachelor level degree in human resources, law, risk or related discipline (desired).
  • Minimum five years' experience in legal/HR/risk or project management roles.
  • Knowledge of employment and industrial relations laws in Australia.
  • Broad technical experience across multiple domains (e.g. employee relations and payroll).
  • Understanding and application of risk assessment and controls, and commercial acumen.
  • Comfort with working in ambiguity.
  • Ability to lead initiatives and engage individuals to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex matters, when appropriate.
