About the job
Due to our expanding capability, we are in search of a candidate who will have key responsibilities as an Environmental Engineer, with technical skills and abilities used in crafting detailed technical drawings and plans for our building services projects, ensuring they align with the specifications provided by other engineers and architects. This full-time position forms part of our dynamic Engineering Division, based in VA Sciences’ Melbourne office.
The ideal candidate will have experience in applying sustainability initiatives to the built environment, assessment of environmental impacts of construction and operations on energy, air, water and soil, and expertise in digital tools such as IES, Matterport and Revit.

About you
You will be a self-driven individual with aspirations to become a technical leader in your field of work, and a passion for continuous development and teamwork.
Within this role, you will be influential in the preparation of sustainability assessments and environmental impact review.
You will be instrumental in crafting detailed technical drawings and plans for our building services projects, ensuring they align with the specifications provided by our engineers and architects.
While your primary tools will be IES, Revit, Matterport, DrawIO and PowerCAD, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate across various disciplines, enriching your exposure to the building services field.
Working alongside our team of engineering professionals, you will play a pivotal role in the project lifecycle from ideation to fruition, as well as forensic investigations.
The role will focus on the following:
- Prepare pathways and plans for developments, buildings and policies to achieve aspirational sustainability targets, using internationally recognised ratings systems such as LEED, Green Star and the like.
- Assessment of sustainability and environmental impacts of construction and operations on energy, air, water, soil and noise levels.
- 3D modelling and BIM, including application of BIM-ISO international standards.
- Independently able to 3D scan, using infrared and LiDAR technology, to capture a complete, engineering focused, point cloud for production use in building services design.
- Assist in the development of digital twins and preparation of augmented documentation.
- Develop detailed design documentation using Revit.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand and translate design requirements and conveying sustainable design concepts
- Create and manage a Revit family library while further developing internal documentation standards to ensure consistency and efficiency in project deliverables.
- Provide support and mentoring to team members to enhance their career progression.
- Stay updated with the latest in BIM, building services trends, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, specialising in environmental impacts and design.
- Post-degree qualification is advantageous.
- LEED Accreditation
- 3-5 years of experience in consulting, modelling, design and coordination of sustainable initiatives in projects
- 3-5 years of experience in drafting and design, with a focus on building services.
- Proficiency in IES (VE), Autodesk Revit, DrawIO, PowerCAD and MS Excel is mandatory.
- Formal training in Drafting or a related field is favourable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
