Infrastructure Services Division Regional Support is looking for a Principal Facilities Services officer to join the Infrastructure Services Far North Queensland Region Team, to be part of our journey as we continue our efforts to Build Education for Queenslanders! This temporary vacancy is available from 03 January 2023 until 03 July 2023, unless otherwise determined.

About the Opportunity:

This is your opportunity to contribute to the Far North Queensland Region team managing the provision of consultancy services to schools for a variety of facilities management advisory services, particularly asset maintenance and ancillary services.

About the Role:

The Principal Facilities Services Officer will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Consult with a variety of stakeholders regarding service delivery of the work unit's services regarding facilities planning, facilities investment, capital projects and asset management issues, which relate to the service delivery of the work unit's services.
  • Participate in project teams in the development, implementation, maintenance and review of programs, policies and procedures that support the strategic direction of the department for a range of infrastructure and planning related issues.
  • Establish and maintain strategic networks to monitor issues and changes, and to identify, define and analyse best practice approaches to implementing consistent processes for a range of infrastructure and planning related services.
  • Regularly liaise with stakeholder groups, educational centres and the broader community to ensure services managed by the team meet their needs.
What You Need to Succeed:

While there are no mandatory qualifications, the position will suit someone who has:
  • Well-developed knowledge of contemporary infrastructure, planning and asset management principles and the ability to apply this knowledge in accordance with legislative requirements, government policies and practices.
  • Demonstrated management skills in the development and implementation of infrastructure services as they relate to a large and multi-faceted organisation and the proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • High level capacity to work effectively under pressure and within time constraints, building and maintaining productive internal and external relationships, and leading small teams to effectively meet client needs and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, consultation and negotiation skills with the ability to represent the department and to establish and maintain mutually productive partnerships with team members and a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Well-developed knowledge of contemporary infrastructure reporting requirements based on key milestones for comprehensive project delivery.
When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
