Become involved in program delivery, grants, partnering, infrastructure and more, with a whole of system, strategic view, working with businesses and industries across the State.

The Opportunity - Lead and Deliver State Government's Investment in VET for QLD

Working directly to the Deputy Director-General, Investment, this executive position will lead the design, management and evaluation of the $1.2B investment in vocational education and training (VET) related initiatives and programs for the State. With a significant portion of the Department's budget, this critical leadership role will establish a strategic focus on an end-to-end approach to the delivery of training and skilling opportunities for Queensland's workforce now and into the future.

With key outcomes including anticipating and meeting the skills needs of the Queensland economy, along with driving return on the State's investment, strategic and operational considerations for this role include:
  • Program establishment and execution including stakeholder and partnership development
  • Enhancement of quality training and maintenance of performance standards
  • Continuous improvement of business processes and capability building
  • Collaborative, values-based leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and
  • Governance, assurance, reporting and risk management
Leading the long-term planning, strategic analysis and a market strategy, you will build strong, strategic alliances, relationships and networks across the sector to enhance programs. TAFE Queensland, Central Queensland University, Registered Training Organisations, peak bodies, industry groups and more will be critical, as will those vitally important relationships with the Minister, Director-General and the Executive Leadership Team.

With state-wide scope, significant financial, partner, stakeholder and program scale, this role is complex, highly visible and can go from the strategic to the operational in an hour. With professional stretch and a highly experienced team (60 approx.) comes incredible job satisfaction knowing your leadership of the Government's investment in the VET market will ultimately create a human impact and benefit to Queensland's future workforce.

Your Suitability

Apply your demonstrated strategic and results-driven leadership experience with scale, scope and complexity in DESBT, and add to your history of maximising investment, outcomes and impact. As a Senior Executive with high level skills in people leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement, experience related to the employment and/or training sector would be highly advantageous.
