Salary: $384,541 - $511,862

Occupation: Executive Management

Develop the SEC’s pipeline of renewable generation and storage investments, convert that pipeline into a strategic portfolio of assets, and build a high performing Commercial team

Maintain and develop effective working relationships across the department, government, and industry, to negotiate with and gain support from key stakeholders

Contribute to setting up a new entity and leave a legacy with enduring benefits for Victorians

Melbourne-based

The Victorian Government is bringing back the State Electricity Commission (SEC) with an initial investment of $1 billion towards delivering 4.5 gigawatts of clean power to help drive transformation of Victoria's energy sector. The new SEC will push more renewable energy into the system, drive down emissions, put downward pressure on power prices and create thousands of jobs.

Through targeted investments, the government-owned SEC will accelerate the delivery of renewable energy to help secure Victoria's clean energy future.

The SEC will do this by:
Being an active energy market participant, working with industry to invest in and speed up the delivery of renewable energy under a 10-year plan.
Pushing more energy into the system with the aim of reducing wholesale prices and giving consumers greater choice.
Working with industry to create thousands of jobs in renewable energy – in solar, wind, storage and emerging energy solutions.
Investing in training, skills, and generating the clean energy workforce of the future.

The newly established SEC Implementation Office is a growing team within the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) that is responsible for leading the reestablishment of the SEC as a government-owned renewable energy provider.

About the Department

DEECA employs more than 4,800 staff in 91 locations across the state and is a key manager of Victoria's public estate, challenged to improve Victoria's liveability whilst protecting the natural environment, infrastructure, and heritage for future generations.

DEECA's values are Teamwork, Service Excellence, Ownership and Wellbeing & Safety.

About the Role

The Executive General Manager, Commercial will report to the Interim CEO of SEC as a member of the SEC Implementation Office's senior executive team, and will be a key leader in the transition to a new SEC entity. The role will be accountable for providing strategic advice on business and pipeline development, manage risk at both the project and portfolio level, and will lead engagement with the market from deal origination through to deal execution and delivery.

The EGM Commercial will develop and deliver SEC's investment program, design and implement appropriate commercial models for SEC's investments, and lead all aspects of SEC's negotiations with counterparties, including the management and coordination of specialist advisors as required.

The successful candidate will lead and grow the SEC's commercial group into a high-performing team with a robust, positive, and enthusiastic culture and commitment to the organisation's values and desired behaviours at all levels.
