Executive Head Chef  - Mamasita

  • Lead the kitchen team at Melbourne’s No 1 Mexican Restaurant 
  • Salary range $95 - $110k 

Mamasita, Melbourne’s leading Mexican restaurant is looking for a dynamic and talented Executive Head Chef to lead the team and stay at the forefront of the Melbourne hospitality scene. 

Established in 2010, Mamasita’s focus is on authentic, modern Mexican dishes, showcasing innovative Mexican-inspired flavours enhanced by a sensational variety of artisanal agave spirits. 

About the role:

Mamasita is seeking a creative and passionate chef with extensive culinary experience, strong leadership skills, and a focus on quality. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of running a successful, fast-paced restaurant and the ability to manage a team effectively with a passion for Mexican/Latin-American food. 

As we continue to evolve and grow, this position presents an exciting opportunity for an accomplished and career-focused chef to oversee the operations of our iconic CBD restaurant. The successful candidate must be self-motivated while leading and inspiring an enthusiastic team to deliver an exceptional culinary experience.

About You:

We are seeking an Executive Head Chef who possesses the following qualities:

  • Exemplary leadership skills, with the ability to lead by example, be a positive communicator, and inspire the team to deliver exceptional dishes. 
  • A proven track record of effectively and efficiently managing a successful kitchen, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality dishes and an excellent dining experience for guests.
  • A drive for continuous development and improvement, constantly seeking out new recipes, techniques, and systems to ensure our restaurant remains an industry leader.
  • The ability to develop, train, and educate staff, fostering a culture of growth and learning to execute new dishes and expand the menu.
  • A commitment to maintaining a strong kitchen team and culture, with a focus on collaboration, communication, and mutual respect.
  • The ability to develop, prepare and execute menus to a contemporary professional standard, with a focus on using fresh, high-quality ingredients and producing elevated, innovative dishes that are true to our modern Mexican cuisine.
  • Experience and knowledge in kitchen inventory, costings and accountability. 
  • Experience in Mexican and/or Latin American cuisine is advantageous, but not a pre – requisite.
