Job description

Want to join a great team in a friendly and welcoming environment?

We are looking for a florist to join our team on a part-time / casual basis for our Rosalie (Paddington) gourmet food market. This position is available to start right after Valentine's Day (or potentially earlier).  The role is ongoing and offers regular and consistent shifts / hours each week.

If you are an enthusiastic and energetic florist (or floristry student nearing completion of their qualifications), the role involves approximately 10-15 hours a week which must include Monday and Thursday mornings, with additional hours potentially available.

The hours would generally be from 6.30/7am on Mondays and Thursdays, finishing late morning on Mondays and around lunchtime on Thursdays. If you have a vehicle and are keen to hand select the flowers from the markets, this is welcomed too (generally once a week on a Thurs am).

Where public holidays fall on Mondays or Thursdays, these working hours would typically fall on the following week-day.

It is essential that you would be available to work on Valentine's Day, over the Mothers Day weekend (Thurs to Sun) and ideally the couple of days before Christmas.

We are a multi-faceted business so there are other opportunities for the right candidate to work other hours in our deli too as a retail assistant (should you be interested) as we are open 7 days a week every day of the year except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

We have a great team of about 35 people you would be working alongside.

The role is quite autonomous and requires the successful candidate to be pro-active and reliable. We are looking for someone with the drive and energy to continue to grow and improve the floristry section of our business.

Responsibilities include:

  • preparing flowers for sale (ie including ensuring the quality is suitable for sale & checking off the inventory received to the invoices, trimming stems and putting the flowers into buckets and then on display)
  • making hand-tie bouquets
  • ordering the flowers

The role is quite physical (including unpacking the boxes and filling up water buckets) and the floristry work is mainly done out the front of our shop and you'd be interacting with our customers out the front of our store. A certain level of physical fitness is required.

The successful candidate will be fluent in speaking English and have full working rights in Australia.
