The Line 1 role (subject to regulatory approval) operates at an enterprise level with oversight and accountability for the design and management of systems, processes, and controls for effective operational risk management across The Star Entertainment Group (TSEG). This includes, delivery of financial crime and responsible gaming controls and operating effectiveness, compliance with all Casino licencing obligations and the prevention, detection, and reporting of illegal and undesirable activity.
You will be responsible for the effectiveness and efficacy of the TSEG controls framework, continuous uplift, adherence to regulatory expectations (state and federal) and ensures the Line 1 risk capability is in place for robust and sustainable risk management relationship with regulatory authorities and government agencies
Key responsibilities
- You will assist ensure TSEG maintains the highest level of standards to suitability to hold a Casino License across all Queensland and NSW
- Develop external relationships and liaise and cooperate with relevant regulators, government agencies, and law enforcement agencies as appropriate
- Identify, assess, and manage (and where appropriate, report) all material risks, incidents, and breaches, in line with risk management framework, policies, Internal Control Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures
- Identify and assess materiality of risks and controls, and to prioritise how to address control deficiencies/ gaps
- Test controls for design and operating effectiveness and enable continuous improvement anticipating regulatory change
- Develop a Risk and Control Self-Assessment process (prioritising areas that present material risks to either our customers or TSEG)

- Senior executive (C-suite) experience in a comparably sized business and/or industry (with a strong preference for gambling industry experience)
- Solid experience managing financial crime risk and operations functions in the Australian context and a depth of capability in dealing with AUSTRAC, running remediation programs and implementation of robust financial crime operational work practices
- Solid experience in responsible gambling programs, regulatory obligations, and internal control practices
- Undergraduate degree in a legal, commercial, or business field
- Extensive experience as a legal practitioner or compliance/risk manager within a large organisation would be highly valued
- Proven management/execution of large-scale risk transformation and people change in complex, highly regulated industries
- Experience in the execution of corporate strategies with a strong risk management mindset
