The Role
The role is responsible for the coordination and efficient running of TasTAFE facilities across the State including campuses and student accommodation facilities. The role also includes management of associated logistics operations including the TasTAFE vehicle fleet.
The role will manage a team of in-house facility services staff and external contractors to ensure successful operations and service provision and will develop, implement and provide high-level advice in relation to sustainable building management strategies, including supporting systems and practices.
Hours per fortnight - 76 hours
This is a full time, statewide role. The successful applicant can operate from any one of TasTAFE’s campuses. The role will require frequent intrastate travel.
An existing TasTAFE employee employed under a copied state instrument, or an employee who has been employed at TasTAFE in the past three months, if successful, would be appointed at the relevant classification and salary in the copied state instrument.
About You
These are the capabilities required to undertake the role successfully:
- High level knowledge and understanding of facility services programs including facility and building management and maintenance practices and the associated legislative requirements.
- Proven effectiveness managing diverse functions, people and resources together with an understanding of relevant legislation/awards/industrial agreements as they relate to facility services staff, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills together with the proven ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks across the business, community and government sectors and to work in cooperation with organisations at senior levels in the planning and delivery of collaborative programs and services.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to effectively manage work pressures, competing priorities and ambiguity in an environment subject to change. The ability to plan, organise, schedule and deliver own outputs and those of the team, within set timeframes, achieving high level results.
- Highly developed analytical, conceptual and reasoning skills with the ability to research, identify options, measure effectiveness and productivity and present practical recommendations based on data to senior management.
