Family and carer Peer support worker
- Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement Program (HOPE). Located in Seymour and Shepparton
- Fixed term Part time
- 40 hours per fortnight at each location

About the role
We are seeking a motivated individual with lived experience of caring for a person with mental illness. The role will be to provide peer support to families and carers of consumers of the HOPE Program.
In this role you will be able to utilise your lived experience to provide support and link families/carers to external services they may require to assist them in their caring role. You will a member of the HOPE Team and have the opportunity to enhance the team's service delivery to the families/carers of HOPE consumers.
We are looking for
- A person with lived experience of providing support and care to a loved one experiencing mental illness
- A willingness to share your lived experience with others when required to connect and provide support to carers/families
- Understanding of mental health services.
- Understanding of support services available for carers/families

Selection Criteria

- Essential : Lived experience as a family member/carer of a person with mental illness
- Essential : Willingness to utilise personal experience to support families and carers of consumers in the HOPE Program
- Essential : Understanding of community services and programs available to provide support to families and carers
- Desirable : Training or education in community services or peer support work
- Essential : A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration will be required from prospective candidates prior to commencement of employment.
