The Position
Position Title: Family Carer Peer Support Worker - HOPE Program
Classification: MP27 – MP35
Salary per hour (exc. super): $30.20 - $35.54
Hours per fortnight: 40
Employment Status: Part-time Ongoing

Role Description
As the HOPE Family Carer Peer Support Worker, you will provide direct support to families, carers and supporters of consumers. You will bring your own lived or living experience as a carer to form effective and empathic peer relationships by appropriately sharing your personal lived experience and understanding of the impact of mental illness on families.
Under the guidance of the HOPE Coordinator and ETP manager and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, you will provide opportunities for carers/ families to develop meaningful community networks and supports with the aim of reducing stigma, build resilience and to offer support to the families so that they can continue to support their loved one.

The Team
The Mental Health Service provides psychiatric care and treatment across a large catchment area in Victoria stretching from Swan Hill in the north of the state to Gisborne in the south. Family sensitive practice is central to our models of mental health care and best practice ensures the identification, inclusion and support of families, carers and children.
