Hardworking person wanted to as an all-rounder within our farm business in Kulin, WA. We have a very busy farm and a very busy household of 6, so we need someone to support us around the house and out on the farm where needed. As this role involves farm work, it can contribute to the 88 day requirement. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH CHILDREN. Job is ideally suited to teacher, childcare worker or similar who is travelling.
Tasks will vary each day
Days will usually include-
- laundry: washing, hanging out, folding and putting away family laundry, for a family of 6… LOTS of laundry
- tidying up, inside and outside the home: making beds, stacking and unstacking dishwasher, washing dishes, decluttering, sweeping / blowing verandas, helping kids tidy toys away
- cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning windows
- organising and decluttering
- gardening: pruning, mulching, fertilising, mowing, spraying, pool maintenance, vegetable gardening, weeding, digging, wheelbarrow work
- caring for pets: chickens, chicks, sheep, dogs, cats
Days will sometimes include-
- caring for children and baby: dropping off / picking up from school bus stop, helping with snacks, playing with kids, supervising, activities like Lego / crafts / reading / outdoor play / bike rides
- farm work: fencing, checking sheep, picking rocks, feeding sheep, clearing tree branches and sticks (hard / heavy physical work)
- washing and cleaning vehicles And Farm machinery
- cooking, baking, meal preparation for family and other farm staff
- driving machinery or supplies from one farm to another (manual drivers licence preferred)
- picking up groceries or supplies from town or neighbouring towns
- helping with house DIY projects
- collecting firewood
Hours are 7.30am-4.30pm with a 1hr lunch break, which you can return to your nearby accommodation for. The job is HARD WORK at times but we are easy to get along with and would never ask you to do a job we wouldn’t be willing to do ourselves. The tasks you will be given will depend somewhat on your previous experience, for example more nannying tasks for someone with experience

- accommodation FREE- your own 3x1 house, on the farm, walking distance from farmhouse and work areas. The house is old but partially renovated and comfortable. Bond is payable on arrival and returned when you finish up and leave the house clean.

Kulin is a social and busy country town, with many other backpackers here, who often choose to return or stay. There are sporting teams (in winter- netball, hockey, AFL, golf), nature walks, a gym, hardware, post office, cafe, pub and grocery store.
Essential criteria (please only respond if you meet the criteria)
- experience working with children
- VERY neat, clean, organised and tidy
- hardworking and with a fitness level able to manage a full day of physical work
- able to multi-task eg. complete chores while also supervising children, at times
- able to work without your phone on you (keep in your bag during work time)
Desirable selection criteria
- English as first language (one of our children is in speech therapy and two are in reading tutoring)
- First Aid training
- Working with Children Check
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Own car (as we are 10km from town)
