A role with unique responsibilities
An IVF Counsellor plays an integral part of a patient’s journey at Monash IVF providing implications counselling and support for people undergoing fertility treatment, third party reproduction such recipients of donor egg, sperm or embryos, surrogacy and those who wish to become donors and surrogates.

The role will require you to provide crisis and grief counselling in the context infertility and you will have the skills to manage any mental health comorbidities.

You are the person our patients engage within our clinic and deliver exceptional counselling services. With passion for outstanding customer service, supported by highly developed skills in counselling, you will directly enhance the patient experience. Under guidance from the Counselling Services Manager based in Victoria, and depending on whether you have Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association (ANZICA) membership, your responsibilities include:

  • Delivering exceptional counselling and customer service to our NSW IVF patients, across all four clinics (Sydney CBD, Bondi Junction, Parramatta and Penrith)
  • Undertaking training and development to qualify for ANZICA membership 
  • Maintaining CPD and all relevant memberships including Fertility Society of Australia (FSA)
  • Practicing in accordance with company and legislative requirements 
  • Ensuring confidentiality at all times and having a non-judgmental attitude 
  • Providing weekly reports and feedback towards counselling services and flag and concerns which need to be addressed
  • Managing all counselling sessions with their prescribed time slots
  • Delivering patient education services and in-service seminars for Monash IVF staff.
In this opportunity, you will have access to weekly peer supervision and connection to the broader counselling team which allows for ongoing education, support, and development.

Are you the ideal candidate for us?
The ideal candidate will see their role as vital to the success of the organisation. Understanding the challenges Counsellors experience in reproductive health, you will have knowledge of or be familiar with relevant legislations and will support all Monash IVF patients with empathy. To be considered for this opportunity it is essential you bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health science or related discipline
  • Post Graduate qualification in Psychology or graduate qualification in Social Work with experience in mental health.
  • Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency or Australian Association of Social Workers
  • A strong customer service orientation and the ability to engage with patients and clinicians
  • Highly developed skills in all facets of counselling
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to assisted reproduction technology (preferable)
  • A willingness to fit in and embrace the Monash IVF Group principles – Care, Collaborate, Communicate, Commitment and Create.
