About the Role
You will be responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures. You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members. You will play an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and welling of members pre and post deployments. You will be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units. You will be supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues. You may be required to provide the services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
- Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience (can include GP Training Registrar time) in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent) as determined by RACGP and ACRRM.
- Hold Australian Citizenship in order to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role.
Wagga Wagga
Kapooka Health Centre and Clinic
Located about 10 minutes from Wagga at the Kapooka Military area, the Kapooka Health Centre supports the Army Recruit Training Centre (ARTC). This health centre contains a 24/7 ward, and provides dental, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours of the centre are 0730-1530 Monday-Friday. Kapooka Clinic is located at Blamey Barracks within the Kapooka Military area, 10 minutes outside Wagga. This facility provides standard medical appointments, and operates 0630-1800 Monday-Friday, and 0630-1430 Saturday-Sunday.
Wagga Health Centre
The Wagga Health Centre is located at RAAF Base Wagga at Forest Hill, South-East of Wagga Wagga. This facility provides general medical care, as well as dental, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours of the Centre are 0700-1600 Monday-Friday.
Albury Wodonga
The Gaza Ridge Health Centre is located on Gaza Ridge South at Bandiana near Wodonga. This facility provides primary health care, as well as dental, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical services to over 5000 Defence Force members. Additionally, the facility operates a 24/7 20 bed low dependency ward. Standard operating hours of the centre are 0730-1530 Monday-Friday.
Puckapunyal
Puckapunyal Health Centre is located in the Puckapunyal Military Area and provides Defence personnel with general medical, physiotherapy, dental, and psychology services, and contains a 12-bed 24/7 low dependency ward. This Health Centre services up to 4000 Defence Force members. Standard operating hours are 0730-1530 Monday-Friday.
Some sites will include rotational on-call roster where overnight and weekend requirements are necessary in which an on-call allowance and call back fee structure is paid.
