Job description

Investment and Technology is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for providing investment strategy and delivering commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.
About the Role
This position is responsible for providing a range of financial business partnering activities to internal clients. The position also requires the incumbent to provide sound financial advice, guidance and support to internal clients, and implement business improvements to financial business partnering related frameworks, systems and procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess appropriate knowledge of financial and management accounting functions as they relate to financial business partnering activities (financial budgeting, forecasting financial performance monitoring and project/program financial management) and experience in undertaking related services to internal clients. You will also have the ability to create and present financial information to a range of audiences, seek feedback and influence outcomes.
On a personal level you will be able to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals; share information and acknowledge others' efforts; step in to help others where required.
Position Outcomes
  • Under direct supervision, undertake a range of financial business partnering activities including budget and forecasting development, actual financial performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting, and financial management of projects/programs.
  • Provide sound advice, guidance and support to internal clients regarding financial budgeting, forecasting, financial performance, and financial management of projects/programs matters.
  • Use negotiating and influencing skills with internal clients to achieve successful business outcomes in relation to financial budgeting, forecasting, monitoring analysis and reporting activities.
  • Under supervision, implement changes to financial business partnering related frameworks, systems and procedures that result in business improvements.
  • Apply written and oral communication skills and exercise professional judgement to provide insight into financial business partnering activities undertaken for internal clients.
Qualifications and Experience
Desirable
  • Relevant Finance or Accounting degree which includes all foundation requirements for entry into CPA Program
  • Membership of CPA or CA
