The Role
As the Finance Manager, you will be a key figure in steering the financial well-being of our company, focusing specifically on the dynamic and specialised Audio-Visual Integration sector. Your role will encompass a range of responsibilities, central to which is the oversight of financial planning, budgeting, and analysis. Through a keen understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the Audio-Visual Integration industry, you will craft financial strategies that align with the company's objectives.
One of your primary responsibilities will be to ensure that the company's financial practices comply with relevant regulations. This will involve staying abreast of industry-specific financial compliance requirements and working closely with various departments to implement and monitor adherence to these standards. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to compliance will be crucial in safeguarding the company's financial integrity.
In addition to managing day-to-day financial operations, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team. This involves leveraging your financial expertise to contribute to the development and execution of business strategies. By collaborating closely with other departments, you will help identify opportunities for financial optimisation, cost management, and revenue growth within the Audio-Visual Integration sector.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain financial models:
- Employ advanced modelling techniques, incorporating sensitivity and scenario analyses to evaluate a wide range of potential economic and industry-specific variables.
- Regularly update models based on the latest market trends, ensuring they remain accurate and reflective of the evolving business landscape.
- Conduct regular financial analysis:
- Utilize sophisticated data visualization tools and predictive analytics to uncover subtle trends, correlations, and outliers in financial data.
- Implement predictive modelling to anticipate potential future challenges and opportunities, enabling proactive decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with department heads:
- Facilitate ongoing collaboration with department heads through regular workshops and feedback sessions to gather qualitative insights that complement quantitative data in the budgeting process.
- Implement rolling forecasts, allowing for real-time adjustments and alignment with dynamic business conditions.
- Monitor budget variances:
- Establish a comprehensive variance analysis framework, distinguishing between controllable and uncontrollable factors influencing budget deviations.
- Develop an automated system that provides real-time alerts for significant variances, accompanied by detailed root-cause analyses.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements:
- Institute a robust internal audit process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements through continuous reconciliation and validation procedures.
- Leverage advanced accounting software with automated closing procedures to expedite financial reporting without compromising accuracy.
- Generate insightful financial reports:
- Implement business intelligence tools to provide dynamic, interactive reports that empower stakeholders to explore data and gain deeper insights.
- Develop a narrative around financial reports, explaining complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner for non-financial stakeholders.
Cash Flow Management:
- Optimize working capital:
- Implement just-in-time inventory systems and negotiate favourable payment terms with suppliers to minimise the cash conversion cycle.
- Develop predictive analytics models to anticipate cash flow fluctuations and optimize liquidity buffers accordingly.
- Minimize financial risks:
- Conduct stress testing on cash flow models to identify vulnerabilities and establish contingency plans for potential disruptions.
- Diversify funding sources and establish relationships with multiple financial institutions to mitigate dependency risks.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance:
- Establish a dedicated compliance team to monitor and ensure adherence to a constantly evolving regulatory landscape.
- Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify potential compliance gaps and proactively address them.
- Proactive risk management:
- Implement a risk register that categorises risks based on impact and likelihood, allowing for prioritised mitigation efforts.
- Engage in continuous scenario planning to identify emerging risks and develop mitigation strategies before they materialise.
Strategic Financial Guidance:
- Financial insights and advice:
- Actively participate in cross-functional teams, bringing financial expertise to the forefront of strategic discussions.
- Develop predictive models to assess the financial impact of various strategic initiatives, aiding in decision-making.
- Alignment with business objectives:
- Conduct regular alignment assessments to ensure financial strategies remain congruent with the ever-evolving business goals.
- Develop key performance indicators that measure the success of financial strategies in contributing to broader organizational objectives.
Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree (Highly Regarded)
- Proven experience 5+ years as a Finance Manager or in a similar financial management role within the audio-visual integration or related industry. (Highly Regarded)
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and industry-specific financial dynamics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Xero accounting software (Required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Excel, Word & Outlook (Required)
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) (Highly Regarded).
- Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational efficiency.
