About the team

The Financial Services Section is a high volume centralised processing unit that services the greater Department by performing accounts payable and receivable, credit card administration, expense8 business support, debt management and receipting functions, travel, fleet management, insurance and the overseas network. The Section works closely with other areas in Finance to deliver quality service and support to Departmental staff.

Our ideal candidate

  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and adapt to changing systems and processes.
  • Good judgement, analytical and problem solving skills, understanding when to escalate issues.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload, sometimes within tight deadlines and display strong attention to detail.
  • A sound understanding of the broader finance function and ability to cross-skill into other areas, including the ability to understand the PGPA Act and other policy or frameworks as required.
  • Display initiative and communicate effectively with management.
  • Be service-oriented with the ability to develop and maintain working relationships to meet the needs of internal customers and foster collaboration within the Corporate Division.
  • Have good communication skills in responding to clients over the phone and via email.

What you will do

  • Prioritise and process high volume, end to end accounts payable and/or receivable (including debt management and credit card activities), keeping within defined KPI’s.
  • Follow-up, action and respond to enquiries over the phone and via email maintaining strong customer service standards.
  • Identify key issues and escalate where appropriate. Assist with building solutions to these problems.
  • Implement and maintain relevant policies and procedures, including WoAG policies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in and identify business process/continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a high performing service delivery culture.
  • Provide assistance to other team members, when required.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

Security Clearance

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes

A background in Finance is desirable.
