Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Financial Accountant with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to undertake this role within the Financial Services Department.
With a focus on providing effective leadership and professional advice, you will be able to demonstrate a track record of supporting other business units to achieve their corporate objectives and drive initiatives to ensure all resources are efficiently managed and accounted for. You will also foster a culture of customer service, continuous improvement and best practice outcomes.
Reporting directly to the Coordinator Financial Accounting, this hands-on position will interact regularly with all areas of Council and work in a motivated and pro-active team environment to provide financial leadership and expertise to:
Undertake day to day financial accounting aspects of Council's operations, ensuring all financial records are accurate and capable of producing timely statutory reporting
Undertake end of month processes in an efficient and timely manner and investigate and follow up on variances
Provide timely, relevant and accurate financial reporting on a monthly and ad-hoc basis
Assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and other financial reports of Council
Manage the General Ledger and ensure all items are materially accurate at all times
Foster a culture of customer service, continuous improvement and best practice outcomes
Support the Coordinator Financial Accounting to effectively and efficiently carry out the financial accounting function
