About the Position
The Financial Accountant (two year fixed term contract) will support the Finance Manager with end to end accounting duties. You will be responsible for supporting seven business entities and providing exceptional business partnering to your stakeholders.
Duties
- Preparation of monthly financial statements
- Responsible for management of the monthly accounts; including but not limited to P&L analysis, preparation of accruals and prepayments and completion of balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of monthly Board reports; including but not limited to reviewing actual vs budget results, analysis/preparation of supplementary reports, and detailed overhead/project cost reviews
- Engaging in P&L reviews with stakeholders and seeing the story behind the numbers
- Support the Finance Manager to conduct relevant annual budget and periodic forecasting activities
- Support with ad-hoc budgeting and forecasting tasks as require
- Provide business partnering support to stakeholders across the business including monthly reporting and discussion meetings.
- Preparation/processing of transactions into general ledger, including reviewing and performing general ledger postings, including bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and review of high-impact income and expenditure
- Preparation of accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis, in addition to conducting end-of-month processing
- Review company taxation activities and ensure compliance with legislative requirements, e.g. BAS, Payroll Tax, Workcover, Income Tax, PAYG, FBT etc
- Preparation of FBT return, including compilation of all supporting calculations.
- Degree qualified plus CPA/CA equivalent
- Open to a two years fixed term contract
- Four years+ accounting experience in complex environments
- Working knowledge of commercial accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards
- Sound technical accounting knowledge, including experience in a computer-related discipline accounting setting
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills a particular advantage
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central / other similar ERPs an advantage
- Well organised and ability to prioritise, with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-starter who displays innovation, accuracy, flexibility and is a team player.
