The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department has responsibility for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state's mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.
About the role
In the role of Financial Accountant, you will provide timely, high-level support with the preparation, analysis and delivery of cluster financial reporting. The role assists in the continual review of the Department's accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NSW Treasury policies and relevant statutory requirements.
In this valuable and varied role, you will:
- Prepare month-end reports for submission to NSW Treasury
- Support the Manager in the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements
- Review and analyse monthly operating statements, including taking corrective action arising from data integrity issues
- Facilitate the timely reconciliation of General Ledger accounts to assist in confirming the integrity of internal controls
- Minimum three years' experience in accounting and/or finance positions.
- Proficient knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Government Sector Finance Act
- A strong understanding of Excel, with proficiency in accounting functions and managing complex datasets
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance; with CA/CPA qualification.
